A Story of Yangtze Dining Lounge
After admiring the green-marbled clad exterior of restaurant Yangtze, enter their open foyer of white marble and mount stairs manned by two carved fierce-looking Feng dogs. The room’s spacious (as is the downstairs banquet room) with sizeable square chandeliers, modern-style. Tables next to the generous bank of windows looking out over the street are coveted.
Sundays, one sees people milling outside the restaurant meeting old friends, here for their dose of dim sum. (You can actually order these beloved snacks any day, though.) Never tasted them? “You can’t try dim sum with a closed mind,” cautions manager Kim Ng, “But if you like it, you’ll come back for more!” The cautious settle for the more popular Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. Steamed sea bass with soy sauce, so simple, tastes glorious! If you’ve been coming here all along, you know about the waitresses Linda and Ivy. They’ve worked here since Yangtze opened 30 years ago.
