Chinatown, On Somerset Street from Preston Street to Bay Street
Sunday, February 8, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m, 2015
Don’t miss this extravaganza! Come to experience the tradition, hear the firecrackers, and get your New Year good fortune by following the Lion Dance Parade in Ottawa’s Chinatown—a multicultural village with an Asian flavour! At the beginning of the lunar year in Chinatown, lion dance groups tour from business to business to bring good fortune and to ward off evil spirits.
To celebrate Ottawa as a host city of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™, this year’s parade will feature an appearance by Shuéme, the competition’s Official Mascot.
Chinatown Lunar New Year parade will start at 1 pm from the Plant Recreation Center on 930 Somerset Street west; turn around on the Bay Street and then finish at the Plant Recreation Center at 2:30 pm.
